Clarks would definitely not be one of my first choices of shoe shop. In my head it just reminds me of uncomfortable school shoes and battles with my mother over desired heel height. Anyway, they have a good discount code on at the moment, BOOST will give you 20% off and free discount on all grown up orders so I decided to take a look. In amongst some predictably comfort oriented designs they have some surprisingly nice shoes.
If I hadn't already blown this year's boot budget I would be straight onto their glossy riding boots (no.5). I also commend them for making wellies without a "fun" design for less than £60, these are surprisingly hard to find.
1. Chelsea Boots - £49.99
2. Maccay Holly - £69.99
3. Medal Charm - £69.99
4. Yarn Dance Wellies - £29.99
5. Licorice Candy - £140.00
6. Orinoco Jazz - £69.99
7. Lotta Beccles - £69.99
8. Wine Interest - £49.99
9. Aintree Ticket - £39.99

Love your selection! I have the Macay Holly boots in black - they look fab and are unbelievably comfortable (normally impossible to achieve both with my feet!).
ReplyDeleteOoh that's good to know, might give them a go.
DeleteI've tried on number 8 and 9 before. No 8 was because I wanted some brogues but they didn't suit me and they are really squishy on the inside which is supposed to make them really comfortable but they actually made them feel weird for me so that ended up being a no no. And I couldn't justfiy no 9 as I have a pair very similar already but they were there ... so I tried them ... be rude not to.
ReplyDeleteI went so far as to buy some brogues similar to 8 last year. They ended up on ebay, really dreadful made me look like a geography teacher.
DeleteWhere are your leopard loafers from? I am umming and ahhing, but can't find the right pair.
They were £8 with discount from Tesco but you wouldn't like them as they're not leather. But I thought at £8, I can indulge the leopard slipper fad and not be out of pocket.
DeleteBrogues - like you say, fine line between geography teacher and sophisticated English Margaret Howell type. I've given up on brogues now. I'm Just going to wear boots all winter.
Ooh no all my good quality clothes morals go out the window when I am pregnant, because I know everything including the shoes will stretch and I won't want to look at them again.
DeleteHi. For anyone that lives in Ireland, Dunnes Stores has very similar shoes to number 9 for €10. I've been lusting after the Chelsea boot (no 1) for a couple of years but always end up buying something else then can't justify it but think I'm going to have to succumb this year especially with the discount.
ReplyDeleteThanks, that's good to know. I love Dunnes, wish we had one here. Chelsea boots are classic, well worth the investment.
DeleteLoving the way that Clarks is upgrading it's image now. Some of their boots are gorgeous this year! I tried on number 2 , but I wanted the brown ones which for some reason were nowhere near as soft and comfy as the black ones! X
ReplyDeleteHow strange, different leather I suppose. Topshop have some similar also in brown.
DeleteI've been a Clarks fan for a few years now - in amongst the comfort-shoe horrors they've always had some really nice boots (and bags too). I'm actaully just waiting for some of their brogues to be delivered - I'm not convinced they're for me though either, Lucy, I fear the geography teacher effect!! Friends keep telling me I should get some as they'd suit me...maybe that's not a good thing?!
ReplyDeleteYes, must look at the bags more, a friend has a lovely one from there. Yes yes can imagine you in brogues, for me they are like maxi dresses love them on others hate them on myself. Where are yours from?
DeleteThey have arrived - they are from Clarks, Hampton something-or-other (I've always thought it might be fun to be the person who thinks up the names for Clarks' shoes..or maybe they just have a computer program which strings two random words togetehr...) and I think I like them. I'm still not entirely sure what I should be wearing them with though - I'm thinking smart-ish skinnies? I love the colour of the ones you posted.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favourite bags are from Clarks - I was looking for a vintage looking satchel style for ages last year, and picked up a perfect, leather one in the Clarks sale for £29.99. It's fab.
OK Lucy, just STOP IT. I am a Geography teacher, interested in style, tend to wear LKBennett, Hobbs with some Gap and a piece or two of Alice Temperley. My footwear is similarly not cheap, not frumpy and not ugly. Retract your offensive stereotypes of Geography teachers, such a lazy and ignorant cliche. I would never say "I don't want to look like a housewife." Have shown this to 5 very stylish and very cross Geography teachers........ Celia :{
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about Clarks! I always associate them with school shoes and old ladies, but they've really upped their game in the past few years and now there are so many things that I would actually buy for myself! I love your picks as well, so wearable!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you'd like to have a look at my little website, I've only just started it so it's still very small! It's basically a little directory of all my favourite classy shops and what I love about them. If you'd have a look and maybe help me to spread the word that would be amazing!! You can find it at http://cherryblossomhandbook.blogspot.co.uk. Thank you so much!
Poppy ♥
Ooh great choice and blog too! I've had my eye on the Medal Charm ankle boots for a while now and also loved the Licorice Candy but they are a bit too long for my little legs :-)
