Since I've been pregnant I find myself constantly telling friends about things I've seen that I would love to buy for myself but that won't accommodate my expanding girth. I thought I'd start sharing some of these with you guys starting with some beautiful bits from Primark. Now that M has started pre school I have treated myself to a few 9am visits, you know when the stock is still actually on the shelves and there aren't any crowds of teenagers around....
Here's what I like...
Sequin Jacket - £21
Actually if an occasion crops up I probably will buy this. I love that the sequins are matt so you get the sparkle without it being too shiny. Sure it will probably unravel with 20 minutes of putting it on, but then so will anything this sequinny and I'd rather pay £20 for the pleasure of leaving a little gold trail behind me than £60 from somewhere else.
Black Lace Dress - £17
Lace dresses have been in Vogue for a while now but that doesn't stop me loving them. The demure neckline and longsleeves balance the flirty length and short skirt perfectly. This one is unusual in that the lace is very thick, almost crochet like so it won't snag. A perfect LBD. I'd wear with opaques and flats.
Pleather Panel Skirt - £12
Ok so obviously it would be better if it was real leather, but I really like this. The colour is perfect and the jersey panels add a modern twist as well as much needed maneuverability. Would be great with a simple crew neck jumper and some ankle boots.
Brocade Trousers - £16
I've lusted after these brocade trousers for ages. They were really hard to photograph without looking naff, trust me they are a lot more beautiful in real life. I'd let them speak for themselves with black crew neck and pumps.
Polka Dot Skirt - £10
Funny, I hardly ever wear skirts, now that waistbands are no longer my friend I've found loads that I like. This has a chiffon (cough polyester) overlay and the dots are velvet. Beautiful mixture of textures.
A Line Pleather Skirt - £12
More pleather, how sweet is this? The shape takes away the association I have with black leather skirts and Liz from Eastenders, just don't pair it with knee high boots.
Really nice picks! I've seen a lot of them already and I've even gone so far as to try on the brocade trousers in the navy colourway. They were lovely and a good fit and I have nowhere to go in them .... but I suppose I could always find somewhere to go in them if I really had to. Awww - I feel for you - I always found loads that I wanted to buy when I was pregnant ... that I couldn't wear. It's always the way isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh so happy to hear you aren't flooded, I was worried.
ReplyDeleteI know I love the brocade trousers, but even if I wasn't up the duff I wouldn't have anywhere to wear them.
I have the brocade trousers! have worn them with a black blazer on a night out and with ankle boots and a black knit on the school run. lovely fit and nice quality..have a blog post to write but got distracted by winter coats this week! love your picks..you must have a good primark near you. avril x
ReplyDeleteOh I knew you would be on them Avril. Love your styling suggestions, off to catch up with your blog now. I am lucky to have a small Primark so it's easy to navigate. What do you guys have Penneys or Primark?
DeleteI love all your selections - right now I want cool printed pants but I just can't pull them off unfortunately, I'll have to just admire them on others!
ReplyDeleteJust checking out your lovely blog for the first time, you could totally pull off printed trousers, you are stunning and have a new follower in me!
DeleteThese are great picks and so affordable too. I've always been too lazy to browse the racks at Primark. I really should but I get the whole deer caught in the headlights look when I see tons and tons of clothes everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThanks, the one perk of my provincal town is that we have a small quite manageable Primark, almost makes up for the lack of H&M or Zara.
DeleteYou know I've neverbeen in Primark before I really should brave the crowds one day.
